LACEY, Wash. – A man was arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend inside her apartment early Monday morning in Lacey, Washington.

Thurston County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Cameron Simper told KIRO that a 25-year-old man allegedly confessed to deputies to shooting and killing his 21-year-old girlfriend early Monday morning at an apartment complex in Lacey, Washington.

Simper told KIRO that deputies got a tip from a member of the man’s family, saying that he had allegedly admitted to the murder.

When deputies arrived at the apartment complex, according to KIRO, deputies found a woman deceased inside a unit with a gunshot wound. At the time of the shooting, the man and woman were alone but Simper told KIRO that the woman has a child.

Investigators say the man stayed at the apartment with the woman on occasion, according to KIRO.

The man has been charged with second-degree murder and domestic violence, according to KIRO.

According to KIRO, it is not clear what led up to the shooting. The investigation is ongoing. TCSO and Pierce County Sheriff’s Office are working together on the investigation.
