Katelyn Maida

Weekdays 6AM - 10AM

Y’all… I’m finally home and I’m so excited about it that I could cry!

I was born and raised in Houston before leaving to head up north to Dallas. The day I moved there, 45 South became my new favorite path. It’s where I spent the next six years driving back and forth between Houston and Dallas, contemplating the day I would get to move back home to this city that I love so much.

Now, here I am. We did it!

I started my radio career as an intern as The New 93Q nine years ago, so it only felt right to rejoin my radio family. I am so excited to sit alongside Riggs and Erica, who I have looked up to for all these years and I will definitely miss Kevin, who makes us all laugh! The three of us are going to do some great things together with the help of our producer, Hoss!

When I’m not on the air you can usually find me somewhere with my dog, Fred. He’s a chocolate lab who serves as our only child until the time comes to one day start a family. My husband, Matthew, is a chef who now works in real estate. And no.. he’s not a Texan. I never thought I’d say that but, yup, I married a man from Washington state. (Also, If you’ve never been there, GO! It is an absolutely beautiful part of the country and I’m happy we now get to visit and explore.)

I come from a huge family with five siblings and love them all the pieces. My family’s boot business, Maida’s Boots, has been open in Houston since 1901 and two of my brothers still own and operate it to this day. It’s a treasured part of my heritage that has helped to bring me so close to the country music that I love. My mom is from South Louisiana – sha - and a large part of my family still lives there. It’s where I spent a lot of my summers growing up and we still visit to this day.

Imagine taking a man from Washington to Houston and Louisiana for the first time. HAHA I’m happy to say that he loves them both! So you KNOW you’re going to see us at all the crawfish spots around town.

When we’re not eating, drinking and being merry with Fred in tow, then you can find us out being active. We also enjoy spending time with family out in the country where I grew up learning all the most vital lessons in life from my dad, the legend himself, Big Sal.

I can’t wait to share so much more of my life on the air. I am truly so honored to have this opportunity! BTW – I have the biggest crush on Alan Jackson. It’s the mullet and mustache for me.

Ask me about my Ronnie Dunn impersonation.
